COTTON FABRICS FOR OUTDOOR FORNITURES

Cotton is a natural fiber that is grown in many parts of the world, including the United States, India, China, and Pakistan. It is harvested by hand or with picking machines, then separated from impurities and leaves and spun into yarn.

The cotton yarn is then woven into fabric using various types of looms, such as the shuttle loom, the comb loom, and the Jacquard loom. The fabric can be woven into various patterns, such as taffeta, satin, and knitted cotton.

Once woven, cotton fabric can be treated in various ways to enhance its properties, such as strength, softness, and sheen. These treatments can include dyeing, application of chemical and mechanical finishes, and use of blended fibers.

The main characteristics of cotton fabrics for the production of outdoor tents and umbrellas are:

- High absorption capacity: cotton can absorb up to 20% of its weight in water, making it suitable for resisting moisture and rain.

- Softness and lightness: cotton has a soft hand and soft texture, making it comfortable and pleasant to the touch.

- Strength and durability: cotton has good mechanical strength, especially when wet, and does not warp easily. In addition, it is resistant to weathering, washing and tearing.

- Biodegradability and ecology: cotton is a 100 percent natural fiber, which decomposes easily in the environment without leaving any polluting traces. In addition, it is a recyclable fiber that can be reused to create new fabrics or other products.

It is possible to subject cotton fabrics to special finishes to make them even more suitable for the production of outdoor tents and umbrellas:

Water repellency: this is a treatment that makes the fabric impermeable to water, preventing it from getting wet or stained. This finishing can be achieved by applying resins or waxes to the surface of the fabric.

Anti-stain: this is a treatment that protects the fabric from stains caused by oily, greasy or colored substances. This finishing can be achieved by applying fluorinated or silicone agents to the surface of the fabric.

Anti-mold: this is a treatment that prevents the formation of mold and mildew on the fabric, caused by moisture or spores in the air. This finishing can be achieved by applying antimicrobial or fungicidal agents to the surface of the fabric.
